Cover of presentation for webinar

Strong mathematics instruction in schools lays the foundation for future academic and career success.  Yet, high-quality research on how students learn is often not adequately reflected in teacher preparation and ongoing professional development. In this conversation, Dr. Anna Stokke and Dr. Amanda VanDerHeyden will discuss:

  • Why it’s so critical for educators to understand the science of learning and instruction
  • Why a gap exists between learning science and classroom instruction
  • How policy often gets in the way of effective math instruction

Whether you're a classroom teacher, administrator, or policy-maker, this conversation offers a clear-eyed look at where we are in ensuring the science of learning informs effective mathematics instruction, where practice has diverged from the evidence, and what it will take to move forward.
