Why Broad Math Intervention Implementation Is Most Effective
Why use SpringMath with every student instead of only the lowest-performing 20%? Dr. VanDerHeyden explains that picking students from a one-time screening misses about half of the kids who actually need intervention. It also places students who don’t need help. Widening the cutoff to the bottom 40% doesn’t fix the problem. When SpringMath is used with all students, it gathers enough data to pinpoint the roughly 10% who need intensive Tier 3 support. Those students then get a diagnostic assessment and a weekly lesson plan that adjusts every week.
